Per trenta minuti – Short-Doc goes docu-fiction

In this season’s last short-doc, a group composed of our Storytellers, current and former residents, collectively interpret an incident that changed Ali’s life dramatically. Per trenta minuti, named after a poem written by one of our residents after hearing Ali’s story for the first time, is both a creative reinterpretation of a traumatic experience and a unique moment of insight into the social fabric of the village: we witness how co-creation is at the heart of the communality and sense of belonging bringing togerther people from many different walks of life.

Il sale de la terra – from local knowledge to the power of art

In September’s short-doc we meet Marco, a long-time resident of nearby village Rasa. Having been responsible for the management of its source for many years, he tells us all about what water means to the villagers of the mountains, as well as to him personally. The inspiration of a colourful mix of artists working together in a week focused on climate change finds form in a sensorial performance in the nearby river.

Public Concert in the Bordei Chapel

We brought together artistic currents ranging from Old Music to Afghani classics, from traditional Hebrew songs to spoken word in a spontaneous concert in the cozy chapel of nearby Bordei. This was an opportunity for local residents to get a glimps into what we have been up to in Terra Vecchia, and a chance for our artists to meet the village’s neighbours!

Vai a dirlo alla montagna – Latest short-doc

The topic of the mountain is explored artistically by August residents Rocío and Andrina in their work with the Storytellers, as well as in a unique artistic performance touching on topics of togetherness, communication, and – most importantly  –womanhood.

Tornare – Short-doc now on YouTube

Students from the HKB, including two young Ukrainian artists, create a series of experimental concerts, touching on topics ranging from a utopian forest to the deeply sadening war in Ukraine. When the Storytellers arrive in Terra Vecchia, they take on the topic of animals through learning about the local ecosystem, making a collective mind map and, finally, jointly writing a song expressing their experience and feelings towards our non-human co-habitants.

Our first short-doc is out – Il bel meso di maggio

We are excited to present the first of a series of five short-documentaries that will accompany the project throughout the season. In Il bel meso di maggio film maker Jasper Luithlen accompanies the young Ukrainian singer Dascha and her encounter with the Storytellers in the flowering spring of the Ticino alps. Also, Juma, one of the co-organisers, tells us about his experience with Aarash, a well-known Afghani singer, who came to work with two former residents.
